Echinobase Track Hub Instructions

Echinoderms' data can be browsed through track data hubs for the UCSC browser. Do the following to use one of our track hubs:

  1. Visit the UCSC genome browser
  2. Hover mouse over MyData"" and click on "Track Hubs"
  3. Select the tab "Connected Hubs"
  4. Selecting from two track hubs, paste the URL in the text box for the desired echinoderm:
    1. Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (purple sea urchin):
      https://download.echinobase.org/echinobase/TrackHubs/MGA_echinoderms/hub.S.purpuratus.GCF_000002235.5.txt
    2. Patiria miniata (bat star):
      https://download.echinobase.org/echinobase/TrackHubs/MGA_echinoderms/hub.P.miniata.GCF_015706575.1.txt
  5. Click "Add Hub"
  6. Within 10 seconds it should take you to the genome selection page again for the genome browser, if it doesn't click on 'Genomes' at the top
  7. Under the Hub Assembly drop down bar, select the echinoderm species you picked in step 4 and then click 'Go'
  8. Several tracks should be visible by default while some are hidden. To turn off or make more tracks visible scroll down and click the "configure" button to access the controls for all tracks.
