Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to invite you to submit an abstract to the 29th Developmental Biology of the Sea Urchin and other Marine Invertebrates (DBSUMI XXIX) conference at the Marine Biological Laboratory. This event brings together our international community of faculty, postdocs, students, and technicians to discuss the latest advancements across marine invertebrate and developmental biology.

Dates: October 7–11, 2026

Location: Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), Woods Hole, MA

Core Topics: Developmental mechanisms (including oogenesis, fertilization, axis specification, gene expression, metamorphosis, regeneration, and evolution) utilizing a broad range of model systems (echinoderms, hemichordates, ascidians, annelids, mollusks, cnidarians, and more).

Program Format: Pre-meeting practical workshops, three days of plenary and concurrent sessions, student Lightning Talk competition, evening poster presentations, and a dedicated session on broadening participation in science. We are also hosting a Logo Competition!

Call for Conference Papers: We have generous support from Discover Developmental Biology to offer DBSUMI XXIX attendees a publishing fee waiver to submit to a peer-reviewed conference collection (deadline July 2027).

Abstract Submission: Due July 21st, 2026. Please note this date is earlier than the meeting registration deadlines.

Workshop and Meeting Registration: Our Pre-Meeting Workshop and Logo Competition deadline is July 31st, 2026. Please monitor the site to register for the full meeting starting July 1st 2026. The priority MBL Meeting Registration deadline will be July 31st, 2026.
