???displayArticle.abstract???
Using combined chromatographic separations, seven asterosaponins, including two new ones archasterosides D and E (1 and 2), were isolated from the methanol extract of the starfish Archaster typicus. Their chemical structures were characterized by extensive analysis of the 1D, 2D NMR, and HR QTOF mass spectra. Among isolated compounds, asteropiside A (3) revealed significant cytotoxic effect against all the five cell lines SK-LU-1 (lung carcinoma), HepG2 (hepatocarcinoma), MCF7 (breast carcinoma), LNCaP (prostate carcinoma), and KB (carcinoma in the mouth) with IC50 values ranging from 9.80 ± 0.58 to 13.88 ± 1.01 µM.
